HHHunt Homes in Richmond VA: Communities, Prices, Warranty, and Buyer Reviews (2026)

HHHunt Homes closed 365 homes in the Richmond region in 2025, worth $164 million, making it the third-largest builder in the metro and the largest one headquartered in Virginia. It is also the builder most people confuse with its sister company. HHHunt Communities develops the land and runs the neighborhoods; HHHunt Homes builds some, not all, of the houses in them. That distinction decides who you call when your sidewalk heaves versus when your HVAC fails.

This guide covers the 11 active HHHunt Homes communities in Richmond, the insured ten-year warranty (the most clearly documented of any production builder here), the four preferred lenders, and what buyers say on independent review sites. Daniel Yoon is a Certified New Home Co-Broker (NHCB) who represents buyers at HHHunt communities in Chesterfield and Henrico.

    HHHunt Homes vs HHHunt Communities

Get this straight before you tour anything. HHHunt Communities is the developer. It buys the land, gets the rezoning, builds the roads, pool, and clubhouse, and sells finished lots to builders. Charter Colony, Magnolia Green’s townhome section, The Aire at Westchester, Kinwick, River Mill, and Edgebrook are all HHHunt Communities developments.

HHHunt Homes is one of the builders that buys those lots. In River Mill, for example, HHHunt Homes is building the townhomes while Schell Brothers built the single-family homes. In Magnolia Green, HHHunt Homes builds townhomes while Ryan, Mungo, and Schell build elsewhere in the same neighborhood. So a “HHHunt community” review on Google might be about the HOA and the amenities, not the house. Read the review sources below with that in mind.

The Aire at Westchester Midlothian, Chesterfield Townhomes, 3 to 5 bedrooms $577,425 Grand opening, 11 move-in ready

Three patterns in that table. HHHunt Homes has become mostly an attached-home builder in Richmond: nine of twelve lines are townhomes or condos. Its single-family inventory is down to Charter Colony and two closeouts. And it is almost entirely in Chesterfield and Henrico, with nothing active in Hanover despite the HHHunt name being all over Hanover’s planning agenda.

That Hanover story is worth knowing. HHHunt pitched a 900-plus home 55+ community on 172 acres beside Wyndham in 2019, then a 400-acre data center campus on the same land, which the Hanover Planning Commission rejected in January 2026. In May 2026 HHHunt came back with Verada, 98 detached homes on half-acre to one-acre lots (BizSense, June 2026). If it passes, it will be the first large-lot HHHunt product in the region in years.

The Pointe at Twin Hickory won HBAR’s 2025 Community of the Year for 101 to 250 sites, Wescott won the statewide HBAV Community of the Year, and Charter Colony won the Community Associations Institute’s Large-Scale Community of the Year for Central Virginia. Awards do not fix drywall, but three in one year says the developer side of the company is doing its job.

The HHHunt warranty is the clearest in the market

Most Richmond builders either do not publish their warranty terms or bury them in a PDF. HHHunt Homes posts its structure on a public warranty page:

    • Year one: workmanship and materials, including HVAC and roofing.
    • Year two: mechanical systems, meaning plumbing, electrical, and HVAC behind the walls.
    • Years three through ten: defined structural elements.
    • Administered by Professional Warranty Service Corporation (PWSC) and insured by Steadfast Insurance, a Zurich company rated A+ by A.M. Best.
    • Two scheduled warranty visits, at roughly 60 days and 11 months after closing.
    • Transferable to the next owner.

The insured part matters more than it sounds. With a builder-backed warranty, your structural claim in year seven is only as good as the builder’s balance sheet and willingness. With a PWSC-insured warranty, the claim runs to an insurance carrier under a written policy. That is a real difference from several local builders whose structural coverage is just a promise. The scheduled 60-day and 11-month visits are also unusual; most builders wait for you to call. We line all 17 builders up in the Richmond builder warranty comparison.

    Lenders and incentives

HHHunt Homes does not run an in-house mortgage company. It lists four preferred lenders on its Richmond lenders page: CMG Home Loans, United Bank, TowneBank Mortgage, and CrossCountry Mortgage, and states the list is “not based on referral fees.” Closing-cost help is still generally tied to using one of the four. Having four competing lenders inside the incentive, rather than one captive lender, is better for the buyer than the NVR or Lennar model. Shop all four and one outsider. Our incentives guide explains how to compare them net of the credit.

What HHHunt buyers say (with links)

HHHunt Homes has a thin public review footprint for a builder its size, and the sources that exist are mostly not Richmond-specific. Here is what we found.

Our read: the loudest complaints about HHHunt online are appliance and finish churn in the first year and a feeling of being “dismissed” once the builder considers an item closed. The C- BBB grade is a responsiveness problem at the corporate level, not a Richmond construction problem. Locally, HHHunt’s warranty team at the Glen Allen office has historically been among the more reachable in the market, and the scheduled 60-day and 11-month visits catch most first-year items before they become arguments. Use those visits. Bring a written list to both.

Who HHHunt Homes fits in Richmond

HHHunt fits the buyer who wants a townhome or condo in a fully built-out neighborhood with the pool and clubhouse already open, because HHHunt Communities usually finishes amenities early. It fits the buyer who cares about an insured, transferable warranty. It fits the Chesterfield buyer in the $400,000 to $580,000 townhome band who wants three to five bedrooms in an attached plan (The Aire, Magnolia Green).

It does not fit the buyer who needs a single-family home in Hanover, Goochland, or Powhatan, or one who wants to modify a floor plan. For more single-family choice at similar prices, compare Main Street Homes and Ryan Homes. For attached product in Henrico, Stanley Martin is the direct competitor at Virginia Center.

    Frequently asked questions

Is HHHunt a good builder? HHHunt Homes is the third-largest builder in Richmond and the largest headquartered in Virginia. It offers the clearest warranty in the market: ten years, insured by Zurich through PWSC, with scheduled 60-day and 11-month visits. Its corporate BBB grade is C- due to unanswered complaints, most from outside Richmond.

What is the difference between HHHunt Homes and HHHunt Communities? HHHunt Communities develops the land and amenities and sells lots to multiple builders. HHHunt Homes is one of those builders. Your house warranty comes from HHHunt Homes; the pool and roads belong to the HOA the developer set up.

How much do HHHunt homes cost in Richmond? From $296,975 for a Kinwick townhome to $577,425 for a townhome at The Aire at Westchester. Single-family homes at Charter Colony start at $535,950.

Does HHHunt have its own mortgage company? No. It lists four preferred lenders (CMG, United Bank, TowneBank, CrossCountry) and says the list is not based on referral fees. Closing-cost credits are typically tied to using one of them.

Does HHHunt build in Hanover? Not currently. Its proposed Verada community (98 homes beside Wyndham) was filed in May 2026 and is under county review.
