StyleCraft Homes is the only one of Richmond’s top six builders headquartered inside the city, at 6225 Lakeside Avenue in Henrico just north of the line. It closed 210 homes in 2025 worth $112.8 million, down from 269 the year before, and nearly all of that volume is townhomes. If you are shopping an attached home between $300,000 and $500,000 in Richmond, StyleCraft and HHHunt are the two builders you will compare most, and they differ in ways the brochures do not mention.
This guide covers StyleCraft’s active communities, its three product lines, a warranty that is generous in year one and thinner after, and what buyers say on independent sites. Daniel Yoon is a Certified New Home Co-Broker (NHCB) representing buyers on new construction across the Richmond metro.

Three patterns. StyleCraft is the only production builder with two active townhome communities inside Richmond city limits (Arden Pointe and Mason Yards), which matters for buyers who want new construction with a city address. It has quietly become a 55+ builder, with five age-restricted communities in four counties. And it sold 59 fewer homes in 2025 than 2024 while The Edge at Westchester Commons got 100 more lots, so expect inventory pricing there through 2027.

Gateway, Expressions, and Freestyle
StyleCraft sells three tiers under one brand, and the tier matters more than the community name. Gateway is the entry line: fixed plans, fixed finish packages, fastest build. Expressions adds structural options and a wider design studio catalog. Freestyle is semi-custom, with plan modifications on the table, and runs through the Lakeside Avenue design studio. Two StyleCraft townhomes on the same street can be a Gateway and an Expressions, and the second will cost $30,000 to $50,000 more for the same footprint. Ask which line a community is selling before you compare prices against HHHunt or Ryan.
The StyleCraft warranty: strong year one, then structural only
StyleCraft’s warranty FAQ describes a one-year warranty on everything, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, handled by an in-house team with a 24-hour initial response promise. After year one, coverage is a ten-year transferable structural warranty through Residential Warranty Company.
What is missing is the two-year systems tier that HHHunt, Eastwood, Lennar, D.R. Horton, Ryan, and Eagle all carry. On a StyleCraft home, a plumbing leak behind a wall in month 18 is not a builder claim. The in-house year-one team is a real advantage (most production builders route you to a call center), so use it hard: schedule your own walkthrough at month 11 and submit everything in writing before the anniversary. Incentives and lenders
StyleCraft does not publish a preferred lender or a standing closing-cost credit; its financing page returned nothing when we checked in August 2026. Incentives are negotiated per home and per community through the online sales team at (804) 206-8088. That is less transparent than the national builders but sometimes better for the buyer, because a credit that is not tied to a captive lender can be applied with any lender you choose. Ask for the current incentive in writing. Our incentives guide covers how to ask.
What StyleCraft buyers say (with links)
- Google reviews via Birdeye: 4.4 out of 5 across 195 reviews, nearly all from Google. The negative outlier describes “wall cracks, tile cracks, ceiling cracks, sinking floors, and doors that couldn’t be shut” several years after purchase.
- Better Business Bureau: A+, accredited since 2001, zero customer reviews, two complaints. December 2025: settlement cracks in a 2016 home with a $17,527 reinforcement estimate; StyleCraft cited normal settlement. February 2026: drainage, a collapsed closet shelf, and window mold, with a $16,500 reimbursement request denied.
- Houzz: 1.8 out of 5 across 12 reviews, the lowest Houzz score of any Richmond builder with more than ten reviews.
- Yelp and Revdex.
Our read: the two BBB complaints are both post-warranty structural and settlement disputes, which is exactly the gap created by the missing systems tier and the narrow definition of “structural” in a 10-year RWC policy. Richmond sits on clay that moves with moisture; our article on foundation problems in Richmond homes explains why. On a StyleCraft home, the pre-drywall inspection and the final-grade check at the last walk are the two moments that protect you.
Who StyleCraft fits in Richmond
StyleCraft fits the townhome buyer who wants a city or near-city address (Mason Yards, Arden Pointe, Crossings at Mulberry). It fits the 55+ buyer comparing Woolridge Landing, Hickory Grove, Mosaic, and Chickahominy Falls, where StyleCraft is often the mid-priced builder in a multi-builder community. And it fits the buyer who wants a locally owned company they can drive to.
It does not fit the buyer who wants a two-year systems warranty, or who needs single-family under $500,000 in Chesterfield, where Ryan and Eastwood have more. For attached product with the stronger warranty, compare HHHunt, which builds across the road from StyleCraft at Westchester Commons.
